Master of Arts in Teaching
The MAT Program consists of five semesters, totaling 30 hours of study
that can be completed in less than two years. Students in the program
follow a prescribed degree schedule once they begin the program. The
degree schedule is designed to allow students to progressively build
upon the knowledge and skills they obtained from previous courses in
the program. This constructivist approach creates a powerful and unique
learning environment for the students in the program. Specialized study
guides direct the application of the concepts presented through
multiple learning modalities.

The M.Ed. in Education Administration consists of six semesters,
totaling 36 hours of study that can be completed in two years. Because
of various certification requirements in different states, options for
courses, electives, and credits hours are scheduled according to
student needs in an individualized program of study. Upon acceptance
into the Program, the student and an advisor will develop a program of
study based upon the University and the student's State Department of
Education certification requirements. This approach makes the program
unique and able to meet the needs of each aspiring administrator.

The M.Ed. in Special Education program consists of 36 credit hours of
course work that can be completed in two years. The basic required
courses respond to the national standards set by the National Board of
Professional Teaching Standards and the Council for Exceptional

states, options for courses, electives, and credits hours are scheduled
according to student needs in an individualized program of study. Upon
acceptance into the program, students will meet with an advisor to
develop a program of study based upon the University and the student’s
State Department of Education certification requirements.

The
M.Ed. in Curriculum and Instruction with an Emphasis on Reading is an
online program that is designed for teachers that wish to learn how to
better combine curriculum, instruction, and assessments to improve the
reading abilities of their students. The curriculum for the program is
related directly to the nationally accepted standards as set forth by
the International Reading Association (IRA) in their document,
Standards for Reading Professionals (1998).
